1. AXIOM LIGHT COVES | Armstrong Ceiling & Wall Systems

AXIOM LIGHT COVES

Light coves can be difficult to create because the light and pocket are rarely designed to work in unison. As a result, light performance can be less than satisfactory. Axiom Direct and Indirect Light Coves integrate Armstrong’s acoustical and drywall suspension systems with lighting fixtures from four lighting partners. Axiom Direct coves install with integrated Leno light fixtures from XAL Lighting. Axiom Indirect installs with light fixtures from Axis Lighting, Litecontrol, or Vode Lighting.

2. NEDLAW LIVING WALL BIOFILTER | Nedlaw Living Walls

NEDLAW LIVING WALL BIOFILTER

With the help of the Nedlaw Living Wall Bio lter, the city hall in Cambridge, Ont., became the rst such building in Canada to earn LEED Gold. The 1,184-sf living wall recirculates fresh air throughout the 85,000-sf building by drawing air through its plant roots. Microbes at the roots consume airborne contaminants, providing air that is as clean as outdoor air. When integrated with the building’s HVAC system, the biofilter reduces heating/cooling energy costs and maintains a relative humidity of 40-50%.

3. TERRAMAI RECLAIMED WOOD | TerraMai

TERRAMAI RECLAIMED WOOD

When the Hangar One facility at Silicon Valley’s Moffett Federal Airfield was being renovated, requiring the removal of old-growth redwood from the facility, reclaimed wood expert TerraMai secured the entire lot of material for future projects. The hangar, built in the 1930s, served as an air reconnaissance base during the Cold War and later as the private jet hangar for the founders of Google. Today, wood from the hangar can be found in numerous facilities in the HNTB-designed San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium. The reclaimed redwood was applied as paneling, cabinetry, and cladding throughout the 69,000-seat stadium’s suites and luxury boxes.

4. ROCKFON MEDICAL STONE WOOL CEILING PANELS | Rockfon

ROCKFON MEDICAL STONE WOOL CEILING PANELS

Geared for healthcare facilities, Rockfon Medical stone wool ceiling panels provide acoustic performance up to 0.90 NRC, harbor no harmful microorganisms, and even resist deadly infections like MRSA. The panels come in a range of Bacteriological Class ratings. Available in 2x2- and 2x4-foot sizes, the panels have an airtight backing membrane and can reflect 83-86% of available light.
